Long weekend… what are you up to?

by Dan J. on Jul.31, 2009, under Random Thoughts

Long weekends are few and far between, so whenever they do roll around, I try to make the most of them. This long weekend however, I am doing as little as possible. Why you ask? Why NOT!?

There are far too many movies, games and downloaded rented tv shows to watch. Yeah, I can hear you all yelling… “go outside and enjoy the weather” or “what kind of loser lurks in his basement in front of a glowing tube?”.

Well, shut your hole, you can stay outside and get rained on all you want. I’ll be busy playing Battlefield 1943 and watching The Wire Season 2! I might also sneak out to see Funny People, who knows…

Best online food recipes

by Dan J. on Apr.30, 2009, under Random Thoughts

I’ve been a frequent user of an online, user-created service called stumbleupon for a couple of years now.  It’s probably one of the ultimate time wasters, supplying me with link after link, however the one topic I have always found there to be way too many of, was recipes.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE food, but if I see another recipe for the “BEST chocolate chip cookie EVAR!” I think I’ll lose my mind.

Thankfully, I’m here.  I have sorted through all of my favorites, of which there are hundreds upon hundreds and created a short of list of the most devilishly delicious treats.

Why my car is the worst.

by Dan J. on Apr.22, 2009, under Cars, Random Thoughts

A few years ago I was involved in a pretty crazy car accident.   It was in the middle of the winter and there was half a foot of snow on the ground, which just happened to be covering an inch think of ice.  Long story short, the car was a pile of scrap therefore I was in need of a new car, immediately.

Off to the used car dealership I went (I can’t think of a classier place, can you?).  What caused my future vehicle to catch my eye, I will never know.  Perhaps it was the scratch down the entire side of the door, or maybe the multiple paint chips.  No, it must have been the manual windows, manual locks, or perhaps it was the texture of the american plastic as I caressed the dashboard.  Whatever it was, I decided to spend (and I couldn’t make this up) over $10,000 on a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.  This was my CHOICE mind you.  I could have easily spent my money elsewhere, but mother nature decided to destroy my perfectly good (and super fun to drive) Acura Integra, so I was forced to go with what I thought was my only choice.

Another awful car

Another awful car

Now, granted, the car has lasted me 5 years, with next to no need for repair or maintenance, besides the oil changes…. whenever I remember to do them. However, if that is the only nice thing to say about the red, 2-doored heap, then it’s not exactly a glowing review. The berating comments by friends and family such as “Manual locks? How about joining the rest of us in the 21st century” and “Wow, are your brakes actually working? Why the hell do they shudder like that?” really do make me despise even looking at it.

Just a tip. If you’re ever looking for a used car, spend more than 5 minutes now, you will save yourself 5 years of torment later…… stupid cavalier…. *grumble*

Welcome to the greatest website on the internet!

by Dan J. on Apr.21, 2009, under Random Thoughts

I have written on many blogs over the years, but have been out of the game for a while.  This blog will hopefully be the definitive collection of my random thoughts.  Updates will be very scattered, but I will also be focusing on SEO efforts, in order to test my own techniques and those of others.

Enjoy and come back often!
