Forza 3 Event in Toronto!

by Dan J. on Oct.23, 2009, under Cars, Gaming

In case you haven’t heard, there will be a Forza 3 event happening tomorrow (Saturday, October 24th) at the Better Living Center located within the exhibition grounds in Toronto.

What it includes, as far as I can tell, is some early access to Forza 3, the opportunity to sit in a Ferrari, and the chance to drive your car around a test track with some driving professionals. Should be pretty fun!

I’ll try to snap some pictures and put them online.  Should be interesting.  Just being able to touch a Lambo is enough for me!

This is why your BMW costs way too much!

by Dan J. on Sep.03, 2009, under Cars

I found this video remarkable. It’s as if you’re looking through Arnie’s eyes from Terminator, only this time it’s to replace a starter motor.  If this could be applied to something else, outside of the hum-drum world of auto-repair, say… in the military, the results would be mind boggling.

Hey, R&D doesn’t come cheap… so next time your $1000/month BMW payment comes up, remember that!

Links Of The Day – April 27th

by Dan J. on Apr.27, 2009, under Cars, Gaming

Some pretty interesting links found online while browsing during lunch.

  • Since the demise of Pontiac has, as of today, been confirmed, this list is pretty interesting for any fans out there.
  • Here is another take on the story regarding the Pontiac shut down.  I, for one, don’t necessarily want to see GM and its employees laid off, but I DO want to see improvements.  Scrapping Pontiac and Saturn don’t exactly make as much sense as getting rid of GMC and Buick, but what do I know?
  • Joystiq’s weekly webcomic wrapups are always great.  I can’t be bothered to read every comic and instead let them pick ones for me.
  • Microsoft’s latest iteration of the Windows 7 BETA includes what some might call, interesting wallpaper.  This is my new favorite background.

Why my car is the worst.

by Dan J. on Apr.22, 2009, under Cars, Random Thoughts

A few years ago I was involved in a pretty crazy car accident.   It was in the middle of the winter and there was half a foot of snow on the ground, which just happened to be covering an inch think of ice.  Long story short, the car was a pile of scrap therefore I was in need of a new car, immediately.

Off to the used car dealership I went (I can’t think of a classier place, can you?).  What caused my future vehicle to catch my eye, I will never know.  Perhaps it was the scratch down the entire side of the door, or maybe the multiple paint chips.  No, it must have been the manual windows, manual locks, or perhaps it was the texture of the american plastic as I caressed the dashboard.  Whatever it was, I decided to spend (and I couldn’t make this up) over $10,000 on a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.  This was my CHOICE mind you.  I could have easily spent my money elsewhere, but mother nature decided to destroy my perfectly good (and super fun to drive) Acura Integra, so I was forced to go with what I thought was my only choice.

Another awful car

Another awful car

Now, granted, the car has lasted me 5 years, with next to no need for repair or maintenance, besides the oil changes…. whenever I remember to do them. However, if that is the only nice thing to say about the red, 2-doored heap, then it’s not exactly a glowing review. The berating comments by friends and family such as “Manual locks? How about joining the rest of us in the 21st century” and “Wow, are your brakes actually working? Why the hell do they shudder like that?” really do make me despise even looking at it.

Just a tip. If you’re ever looking for a used car, spend more than 5 minutes now, you will save yourself 5 years of torment later…… stupid cavalier…. *grumble*
