Favorite Of 2009 – Music Releases

by on Nov.24, 2009, under Music

It’s not the end of the year yet… I know.  I felt it was completely necessary to list my personal favs of the year.  Starting with music releases of course. This year was fantastic…which was made easy with a wonderful little application called Spotify.

Anywho…. here is my list.  Yes, it’s rather skewed towards Electronic/Alternative/Shoegazer, but then again, it’s MY list dammit! Other than that… any horrific omissions?

Please note : These are in no particular order, and please feel free to click the end links for a video for a random track on YouTube. (continue reading…)

MOVIE REVIEW : A Serious Man

by on Nov.09, 2009, under Movies

a-serious-man-movie-reviewLarry Gopnik is a loser.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for him?  Maybe.  Do I?  Not at all. This is the issue I had with A Serious Man, the latest ‘masterpiece’ from the infallible Coen Brothers.  It’s a story about a Jewish mathematician who has his life unravel in front of his eyes through a chain of events, ignited by his wife’s desire for a divorce.

Gopnik is bossed around by nearly everyone he encounters, and he does little, if anything, to try and stop them. Not only that, but he questions whether he’s supposed to complain or not. This is just not a character you can feel sorry for, nor one that you can cheer for. (continue reading…)

Forza 3 Event in Toronto!

by on Oct.23, 2009, under Cars, Gaming

In case you haven’t heard, there will be a Forza 3 event happening tomorrow (Saturday, October 24th) at the Better Living Center located within the exhibition grounds in Toronto.

What it includes, as far as I can tell, is some early access to Forza 3, the opportunity to sit in a Ferrari, and the chance to drive your car around a test track with some driving professionals. Should be pretty fun! (continue reading…)

MOVIE REVIEW : 3 films from TIFF09

by on Oct.06, 2009, under Movies

Yes, I know it’a LONG overdue for an update, but it’s been a busy month!

It’s become an annual tradition to attend the Toronto International Film Festival, and this year was no different. The long lines, the thousands of tourists, the amazing cars, the never-ending ‘Arrrrrr’ during the Piracy warning before EVERY movie… all make for a very interesting atmosphere.

I was only able to see 3 films this year, but I always love the chance to see a premiere, or perhaps even a film that would never normally see the light of day.  This year however, all 3 films are basically guaranteed release, at least in a few hundred theaters across North America. I have included reviews for all 3 films viewed at this years TIFF. (continue reading…)

Cool website of the day : www.DandyID.org

by on Sep.03, 2009, under Random Thoughts

After checking out this site for over an hour last night, I couldn’t believe how many social network websites there really were. What was even more surprising, was that almost every one of them had a unique trait. Some allow you to post videos via twitter, some catalogue your video games and help you decide which new ones you might like, some even help select music, movies or tv shows you might like… all while sharing this information with your friends and family, or whoever you choose.

I am definitely a sucker for social networking, hell… my job requires it to a certain extent. A site like this is a joyous discovery, since I can waste even more time online than even I thought was possible. Check it out, I can guarantee not every one of the sites will grab your interest, but there may be a few you hadn’t heard about, I certainly hadn’t heard of at least half of them!
