Another day, another microwaved lunch.

It’s Monday. I’m eating a microwaved pasta lunch, which I’m pretty sure isn’t cooked all the way through and listening to Philip Glass. Is your day more interesting than mine so far? Probably.
Enough with the Fear!

I’m not going to admit to anything. I don’t understand politics very well, I don’t know the inner workings of government. I STILL don’t really understand what the difference is between right and left wing.
However…. I do notice the way the media tends to lean towards instilling a certain amount of uncertainty, even fear, upon the general public. I have absolutely no proof, but a good gut feeling (for what it’s worth) that things are…. ok.
Sure, there were a few mistakes when it came to US mortgages, but lets put that behind us. Continue with a level of caution, sure… but no more than you normally do. Don’t go out and splurge, no one ever really should. If you NEED a new car though, go out and buy it. If you WANT a new 50″ TV….. wait until you can afford it.
After what has been a long evening of severe inebriation, I would be the WORST financial advisor, but I truly believe things will be ok as long as everyone keeps a level head and thinks about things before they dive in head first.
What a weekend!

BBQ A-Blazin!
What’s everyone up to this weekend? The weather is so unpredictable and sporadic in Southwestern Ontario that you must take advantage of it when it’s in your favour. The dust will be blown of my bike, the sandles might make an appearance, who knows… a pair of shorts might even be pulled out of the ‘summer clothes’ section of the closet.
All I know for sure is, the BBQ will be blazing tomorrow and many beers will be consumed. I will attempt to satisfy the wife’s craving for some outdoorsey type activities first. 31 with the humidity sounds too good to be true. How will you be spending your April 25th?

I AM working at a bingo hall tonight. Shut it.
Why my car is the worst.
by Dan J. on Apr.22, 2009, under Cars, Random Thoughts
A few years ago I was involved in a pretty crazy car accident. It was in the middle of the winter and there was half a foot of snow on the ground, which just happened to be covering an inch think of ice. Long story short, the car was a pile of scrap therefore I was in need of a new car, immediately.
Off to the used car dealership I went (I can’t think of a classier place, can you?). What caused my future vehicle to catch my eye, I will never know. Perhaps it was the scratch down the entire side of the door, or maybe the multiple paint chips. No, it must have been the manual windows, manual locks, or perhaps it was the texture of the american plastic as I caressed the dashboard. Whatever it was, I decided to spend (and I couldn’t make this up) over $10,000 on a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. This was my CHOICE mind you. I could have easily spent my money elsewhere, but mother nature decided to destroy my perfectly good (and super fun to drive) Acura Integra, so I was forced to go with what I thought was my only choice.

Another awful car
Now, granted, the car has lasted me 5 years, with next to no need for repair or maintenance, besides the oil changes…. whenever I remember to do them. However, if that is the only nice thing to say about the red, 2-doored heap, then it’s not exactly a glowing review. The berating comments by friends and family such as “Manual locks? How about joining the rest of us in the 21st century” and “Wow, are your brakes actually working? Why the hell do they shudder like that?” really do make me despise even looking at it.
Just a tip. If you’re ever looking for a used car, spend more than 5 minutes now, you will save yourself 5 years of torment later…… stupid cavalier…. *grumble*
